Wealth Management Associate

Job Description

Zuckerman Investment Group is looking for an Associate to join our team. This position is a unique opportunity to participate in the expansion of an established firm and will offer great growth potential. You will gain exposure to all aspects of a wealth management firm by providing support to the relationship management, investment, portfolio management, compliance and sales teams. This position has the potential to develop into one of several different career paths, including client service, client operations, investment operations, and business development.

This position will be hybrid. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the interplay between relationship management, investments & sales
  • Support client advisors in the execution of core client processes
  • Complete day-to-day client requests, including money movements, new account setup, preparing for client meetings and other projects as needed
  • Learn the inner workings of our key technological systems
  • Maintain essential relationship management, sales and investment data in our client relationship management system (CRM)
  • Coordinate with custodians on items such as client money movements, account openings, post-trade processing, voluntary corporate actions, and tax mailings
  • Participate in the reconciliation, allocations & settlements processes
  • Assist in various projects to support the investment and portfolio management teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Preferred Majors: Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Development, Marketing
  • Minimum GPA: 3.6
  • Highly organized, extremely detail-oriented and able to multi-task with time-sensitive items
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Interest in taking one of the CFP, CPA or CFA exams

Compliance Manager

Job Description

Zuckerman Investment Group is looking for a Compliance Manager to join our compliance team. This position is unique opportunity to participate in the growth of an established wealth management firm and offers great growth potential. This position is located in Chicago, Illinois with a hybrid home/office work arrangement.  

This position will be hybrid. 

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with day-to-day management of compliance program, including leading firm trainings and managing our 3rd party compliance consultant.  
  • Create, implement, review, and analyze reports for compliance monitoring. 
  • Reviewing and approving marketing materials. 
  • Administer the Code of Ethics compliance program, including oversight of personal trading, gifts and business entertainment, and political contributions. 
  • Participating in annual compliance program review & testing. 
  • Assist in preparation of various regulatory filings (ADV, CRS, 13H, 13F). 
  • Stay abreast of new rules and regulations, implementing processes and controls in accordance with compliance dates. 
  • Coordinate with various internal and external parties to ensure completion of various tasks. 
  • Identify risks, assess mitigating controls, and make recommendations to improve the control environment. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; legal/compliance, finance, and accounting background a plus. 
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience, familiarity with the Advisers Act and/or Investment Company Act; experience in public accounting, due diligence, internal audit, or similar roles in the financial services industry is beneficial. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Highly motivated with the ability to multitask and remain organized in a growing and fast-paced environment. 
  • Attention to detail and ability to see projects through to completion. 
  • Able to work under minimal supervision on individual tasks or on team projects with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. 
  • Accurate, accountable, and able to multitask while managing both time and workload.

Research Associate

Job Description

Zuckerman Investment Group is looking for a Research Associate to join our investment team. This position is a unique opportunity to participate in the growth of an established wealth management firm and offers great growth potential. This position is located in Chicago, Illinois with a hybrid home/office work arrangement. 

This position will be hybrid. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with due diligence on existing and prospective equity holdings, including investigative field research, reading transcripts and financial documents, data collection and analysis and financial modeling 
  • Writing letters and investment reports 
  • Creating presentation materials 
  • Support the portfolio management process and decision making, including data collection, reporting, analysis, individual account management, position sizing and ad hoc special projects 
  • Liaison between investment team and trading and operations team including generating reports 
  • Build productive working relationships, both internally with senior leadership, portfolio managers and advisors and externally with brokers, dealers and custodians  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 3+ years of work experience 
  • CFA or interest in getting a CFA
  • Unbreachable ethical standards and personal integrity 
  • Highly organized, extremely detail-oriented, and able to multi-task with time-sensitive items 
  • Thorough understanding of financial modeling and valuation methods 
  • Excell written and verbal communication skills 
  • Passion for investing and learning about businesses 
  • Critical thinking  
  • Comfortable working within, and continually improving, technology-driven and -enabled systems and processes 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel 
  • Professional experience trading equity and fixed income securities preferred, but not required 
  • Experience with SS&C Advent’s APX and Moxy preferred, but not required 
  • Experience with Bloomberg and FactSet preferred, but not required
